The Silver Lining - 'Every Cloud has a Silver Lining'
A few years ago I started to find a different way to use silver solder when making pendant necklaces. I started taking pieces of stained glass, wrapping them in copper foil and then soldering the copper foil. I wanted to come up with a new design for a silver pendant. From there I started to play with soldering on pieces of metal instead of stained glass.
Going Back to School at 60 Years Old
There was one thing that made me excited about turning 60 years old in March. Once you are 60 years old, you are eligible to audit classes at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse (UWL) as long as there are open seats and the professor approves it. You only pay for books and material fees. This is a bonus for going back to school to take a class in something I have always wanted to learn.
What Is GOLEM? A Legend? A Clay Man?
Before I created my first collection for my website, I was having a tough time trying to decide what to do for it. I wanted to find something very unique that would not be found elsewhere. In June of 2018, I went to the Bead and Button show in Milwaukee, WI. When I saw the 'Golem Design Studio' clay beads and pendants, I knew I had found what I had been looking for.

Marcia's Six Month Journey
In December of 2017, I started to think about where I was in my business because 60 was approaching fast. When I retired from my full-time position as a Programmer/Analyst, my existing jewelry business was going to be my full-time job. However, fast forward five years and I am not where I want to be. I made the decision, 2018 is the year I am going to grow my business. I don't want to end up wondering what could I have done if I had really tried.
