Treasured Memories From Your Mother or that Special Someone

August 01, 2018 1 Comment

This silver pendant necklace is made using stainless steel chain. The silver pendant was from an antique earring.

Do you have treasured memories of jewelry that was your Mother's or maybe your Grandmother's that are true treasures you would like to have remade into something you would wear? Many times we inherit a jewelry treasure box from a loved one that is not our style but would like to have some of the jewelry made into something that we would wear to remind us of them. If this is true, look through your treasure box and see what you would like to have as a pendant or focal piece within a necklace or bracelet. If you find that special piece, then we can talk about what you would like designed and created. You will then have a true treasure that is a special piece of jewelry just for you!

I enjoy taking apart vintage necklaces and vintage earrings so I can use the vintage pieces in my new designs. The hunt to find a unique piece of vintage jewelry is just as fun as designing the new piece. I enjoy going to estate sales and antique shops to see what I can find. When I am with my sisters, they roll their eyes when I want to stop in at an antique shop because they know it will not be a quick stop. I use pieces from vintage earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. One reason I like using vintage gold and silver is, if it has not turned colors or tarnished in the past 30-40 plus years, I know it won't in the future.

I had one client who found seaglass on the beach during a family trip to Barcelona. She sent the seaglass to me and I created a necklace for each of her daughters. They loved the seaglass necklaces and they will be one of the many treasured memories from their trip.

The above photo is a classic piece I made into a pendant from a vintage earring. After I made the necklace I could not bear to part with it because I was so intrigued by the design in the pendant.

Beautiful necklace, and what a great way to remember a vacation, love the idea of the seaglass necklaces.
